YLW Launches New Air Service

UPDATE (January 18, 2016): NewLeaf Travel Company announced that it is temporarily postponing sales of airline tickets, pending a Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) review of licensing regulations for Indirect Air Service Providers. The latest information can be found at www.flynewleaf.ca.

Kelowna International Airport (YLW) is pleased to announce the commencement of a new low-cost air service. NewLeaf Travel Company will be offering scheduled flights from Kelowna to Winnipeg, Hamilton, Regina and Saskatoon, starting February 12, 2016.

“YLW is very excited to support NewLeaf Travel’s arrival, as it will benefit our whole community,” said Sam Samaddar, Airport Director. “NewLeaf opens Kelowna’s doors to travellers on a budget from all over the country.”

NewLeaf Travel uses an Ultra Low Cost Carrier approach in all aspects of its business to provide consumers with low prices. They offer only one class of seating, an economy “slim line” seat in a dense configuration on a comfortable Boeing 737 aircraft.

“Our pricing is unbundled, so consumers only pay for what they want,” said Jim Young, NewLeaf Travel President and CEO. “We are up front and transparent about this pricing approach, so our customers get what they need with no surprises.”

As part of their low-cost model, NewLeaf Travel will enable passengers to customize their travel experience by purchasing, among other things, priority boarding, on-board drinks, snacks, carry-on and checked baggage.

NewLeaf’s principal partner for airline service is Kelowna’s own Flair Airlines Ltd. Flair is a Canadian-based airline with experienced crew and pilots that fly Boeing737-400 passenger jets. Flair has been in business since 2003 and has a strong track record of safety and service

Passengers can make reservations on NewLeaf Travel’s website at www.flynewleaf.ca . Telephone booking service will also be available, for a fee, seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Central Time) at 204-888-BOOK and customer assistance is available at 204-888-HELP.
