Winter Getaways from YLW

What’s new in winter vacation travel

The ever-popular Winter Travel Event will take place at Kelowna International Airport (YLW) on Oct. 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The annual event attracts Okanagan residents who want to learn about what’s new and exciting for winter vacation options.

“This is a fantastic event,” says Sam Samaddar, Airport Director. “We get a great turn-out from both our exhibitors and the public and there is a lot of excitement as we start to turn our attention to planning winter getaways that can include everything from cruises, beach holidays to dog sledding adventures under the Yukon Northern Lights.”

Due to the tremendous commitment and support of the airport’s aviation partners, YLW has an amazing line-up of travel prizes that are up for grabs. This year there are five flights for two which include: an all-inclusive trip to Ixtapa from Sunwing; air travel on Air Canada rouge to Hawaii; tickets to any WestJet destination in Canada or the U.S.; air travel to Puerto Vallarta with Transat Holidays/Nolitours; and a three-night getaway under the Northern Lights with Air North, Yukon's Airline.

Those who enter the draw in turn give back to the community by making a donation to a local charity. This year it is Bumbershoot Childrens’ Theatre ( www.bumbershoottheatre.com ).

Prize ballots will be available at the draw table: $5 for one, $10 for three and $20 for five chances to win. Tax receipts are issued for all donations over $20. The draw for all prizes awarded by YLW will be made at 3 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 25.  All winners will be contacted by telephone on Saturday if they are not still at the airport and the list of winners will be posted on the YLW Facebook page .

Parking is free for this event in the long-term lot. Parking vouchers are required to be validated at the event.
