Canadian airports launch first-ever Canadian Airports Safety Week

Today Kelowna International Airport (YLW), along with 23 other airports across Canada, kick-off Canadian Airports Safety Week, a new airport-led initiative to promote healthy and safe work practices among the airport community.

The first program of its kind for the Canadian aviation industry, Canadian Airports Safety Week aims to reach thousands of airport employees across the country with various safety talks, themed messaging and events, which were developed in collaboration with participating airports.

“Here at YLW, every team member makes it his or her priority to ensure the airport remains safe, secure and operational. Safety Week is a great opportunity to refresh our skills and remember that safety should always comes first,” said Sam Samaddar, Airport Director.

YLW will be hosting a variety of talks throughout the week to promote day safety messages to the airport community. It will also be hosting a Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Walk and Barbecue on Friday, Aug. 28, which will be open to the media.
